Disrupted distance learning: the impact of Covid-19 on study habits of distance learning university students

Despite a growing body of work on understanding how students perceived the impacts Covid-19 pandemic, effects existing distance learning universities have received less attention. This study aimed to understand changes in students’ habits (learning, assessment and social activities) assess factors associated with negative impacts. An online survey collected information demographics, study-related information, personal circumstances from 555 undergraduate at The Open University, UK. Of population, an average 36% reported their activities 15% positive Logistic regression analysis (n = 269) demonstrated that overall were difficulties managing workload limited interaction other students. Other factors, such as socioeconomic background, level, tutors, age, health, employment issues, childcare caring responsibilities, relate particular habits. Our findings implications for new practices address these better support ongoing activity during similar disruptions.
